After our thirteen-hour flight from Los Angeles, we have finally reached Hong Kong. My first impression of the country is modernization. The airport is picturesque, well-planned, and spotless.
Two young men welcomed us at the airport. Fai was one of the team members who went to Joy City with Kent for short-term mission. He came with his cell leader to help us with our luggage. An airport shuttle came and took us to Shepherd Community Grace Church where we will be staying temporarily for a few stays.
After we unloaded our luggage, a coworker Shaun accompanied us with a real estate agent to find a suitable apartment nearby. After we visited four or five units, there was one we both like very much. It was renovated recently. But the landlord required a two-year lease. Kent said to me, God will provide! Then we went to see another unit. Darlene’s first reaction was, “It’s so pretty. I like it.” It was renovated recently. Its monthly rental fee is reasonable. It is close to markets and shops. The owner was looking for a family as his tenant. So we’ve made our deposit. We should hear from the owner the next day.
Shaun accompanied us for the whole day. He also helped us to open a saving account at a bank nearby. So we invited to join us for a late lunch at three in the afternoon.
Darlene and Angeline adapt to the new environment easily. Darlene’s atopic dermatitis was not as severe due to the humidity. We also try our best to learn Cantonese.
The jet lag hit us early in the evening. We clean up the room, placed floor mats on the floor and went to sleep early!
